ISLAMABAD, August 22, 2026:
The Jammu & Kashmir Community International, at a special meeting of its Central Executive Committee, appealed to overseas Kashmiris across the world to set aside their mutual and group differences, dedicate their energies to the Kashmir cause, and raise their voice at international forums against alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting strongly reacted to remarks made by the U.S. Ambassador regarding Kashmir, saying that the reality of Kashmir cannot be changed by any diplomatic statement. Participants said that the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be altered through unilateral claims and that any attempt to ignore the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination is unacceptable.
The participants said political statements could neither change history nor international law, stressing that the future of Kashmir should be determined in accordance with the aspirations of its people and not through the use of force.
The meeting said United Nations Security Council resolutions continue to form the legal basis for addressing the Kashmir dispute. The Jammu & Kashmir Community International urged overseas Kashmiris to register their concerns at international forums, including the United Nations, international human rights organisations, the European Parliament and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and to play their role in highlighting the situation in Jammu and Kashmir before the international community.
The meeting was chaired by Central Chairman Ghulam Nabi Butt, while General Secretary Raja Pervez Ahmed Khan performed the stage proceedings. Barrister Sundas Malik, Legal Adviser to the Pakistan Parliamentary Kashmir Committee, attended as the chief guest, while Executive Member Dr. Abid Abbasi hosted the event.
Chief Organiser of Jammu & Kashmir Community Overseas in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Raja Muhammad Riaz, also attended the meeting. Other participants included Senior Vice Chairman Sardar Kamran Azam, Vice Chairman Raja Muhammad Zareen Khan, Vice Chairman Professor Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Executive Members Mushtaq Pirzada, Afshan Kiyani and Muhammad Wasim Awan, Finance Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Shakeel, Secretary Information Syed Yousaf Hamdani and other members.
The participants also expressed special appreciation to the Government of Pakistan and Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir for their recent statements regarding the Kashmir cause and Pakistan’s Kashmir policy. They described the position as encouraging for the Kashmiri people and appreciated the government’s efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international level.
The meeting reiterated the organisation’s resolve to unite Kashmiris living around the world, highlight the Kashmir issue internationally and continue efforts in support of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
At the conclusion, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Community International Ghulam Nabi Butt thanked all participants for attending the meeting in large numbers.
