ISLAMABAD—Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday said the legal fraternity has always played a vital role in strengthening democracy, ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and upholding the rule of law.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Executive Committee of the High Court Bar Association Hyderabad at Parliament House. Speaker Balochistan Assembly Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai also attended the meeting.
The Speaker said the National Assembly had established a Legislative Drafting Council, comprising experienced professionals selected on merit, to further improve the quality of legislation and strengthen the legislative process.
The delegation apprised the Speaker of issues facing the legal community and discussed matters related to lawyers’ professional development and welfare.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stressed the need for closer cooperation between Parliament and the legal fraternity, reaffirming that the Legislative Drafting Council was playing an effective role in improving the legislative process.
The delegation appreciated the Speaker’s efforts to strengthen parliamentary institutions and promote engagement with the legal community. The Speaker assured members that the issues raised during the meeting would receive due consideration.
