The Filipino Independence Day celebration in Lahore brought together members of the Filipino community, Pakistani friends and local community leaders in a warm and spirited gathering at the Ramada Hotel in Gulberg II. The event marked the 128th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence and reflected a deep sense of patriotism, unity and shared pride among the attendees.
Organised by Kabalikat ng Kapwa Pilipino (KKP) with the support of the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Lahore, the celebration highlighted the importance of keeping national identity alive among Filipinos living abroad. H.E. Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez attended as chief guest, adding significance to the occasion and underscoring the growing connection between the Filipino diaspora and the wider community in Pakistan.
The gathering was further enriched by lively cultural performances featuring songs and dances presented by different community groups. These performances offered guests a vibrant glimpse into Filipino traditions and showed how culture continues to serve as a bridge for overseas Filipinos to stay connected with their roots.
Beyond the festivities, the event carried a deeper message of solidarity and belonging. For many attendees, the Filipino Independence Day observance in Lahore was not only a tribute to the Philippines’ historic struggle for freedom, but also a reminder of the enduring spirit of bayanihan, resilience and friendship that Filipinos carry with them wherever they live.
