Report: ANI Correspondent:

ISLAMABAD — Senator Faisal Vawda has said that the imposition of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was necessary in the interest of the province’s people due to the alarming law and order situation, expressing confidence that residents would receive relief within 180 days.

Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad, Vawda criticised the province’s 13-year performance, saying it had resulted in widespread destruction and stressing that effective measures were essential to eliminate terrorism and protect the public.

He strongly condemned any disrespect towards Pakistan’s national flag and anthem, as well as negative remarks against security personnel who sacrificed their lives for the country. He said protecting the nation and eliminating terrorism must remain the top priorities.

Vawda claimed that terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had increased by 195 per cent and called for accountability over the deteriorating security situation. He also stressed the need for action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory and raised concerns over the presence of Afghan nationals in the province.

The senator predicted that results of the government’s measures would begin to emerge within 60 days, while relief for the people would follow within 180 days. He added that the success of the current arrangements would depend on performance and that alternatives could be considered if required.

Clarifying his position on the country’s territorial integrity, Vawda said neither Khyber Pakhtunkhwa nor Balochistan was heading towards separation. He maintained that the objective was to eliminate terrorism, restore peace and provide relief to the public.

Criticising political parties for relying on slogans, he said future decisions would be based on performance rather than political rhetoric. He also pledged action against economic terrorism and called for improvements in the country’s governance system.
