THARPARKAR — Residents of Daim Rahmoon Wasayani village in Dahli Taluka have raised serious concerns over the alleged lack of basic healthcare facilities at the PPHI-run Basic Health Unit (BHU), claiming that the centre has effectively become non-functional.
According to local residents, the health facility lacks a regularly available doctor and adequate supplies of free medicines. They alleged that the centre remains closed for most of the month and is opened only for a few days.
Residents further claimed that the doctor posted at the facility has allegedly remained absent for months and visits only occasionally. They also alleged that government-supplied medicines frequently run out, forcing patients to purchase medicines from outside.
With a population of more than 2,000, villagers said women, children and other patients are forced to travel to Dahli and Mithi even for minor illnesses, causing significant hardship for poor families.
Elders and residents have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar, District Health Officer Tharparkar and PPHI Head Office Karachi to take immediate notice, ensure regular attendance of medical staff and guarantee the availability of essential medicines.
Residents warned that they may expand their protest if the alleged lack of healthcare services continues.
