ISLAMABAD — Former Senior Vice President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) and Secretary of the Traders Action Committee, Khalid Chaudhry, has urged Chief Commissioner Islamabad Lt. Gen. (R) Sohail Ashraf to ensure that the federal government’s decision to abolish trade licences is implemented uniformly across all departments.
He said that while the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has already stopped issuing trade licences, the Islamabad Food Authority and the Excise Department should also immediately stop issuing business licences and professional tax notices.
Khalid Chaudhry said traders support compliance with all legal and food safety regulations but should not face unnecessary licensing requirements that contradict the government’s policy. He called for a clear and uniform notification to remove uncertainty and facilitate the business community in Islamabad.
