ISLAMABAD– The PTI Kisan Wing has announced its support for the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad (PKI) and confirmed participation in the farmers’ protest and “Million March” scheduled for September 25 in Islamabad.
The announcement was made by PTI Kisan Wing Organizer Sheikh Waqas Akram and Central Information Secretary Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich while speaking to media along with local farmer leaders.
Sadhraich said all provincial bodies of the Kisan Wing had been directed to actively participate in the PKI-led movement. He said farmers’ prosperity was essential for Pakistan’s economic stability.
The PTI leaders alleged that rising diesel, fertilizer, seed and other input costs had severely increased the burden on farmers. They also criticised wheat pricing and imports, warning that continued pressure on growers could reduce domestic production and increase dependence on imported wheat.
The leaders demanded a minimum sugarcane support price of Rs650 per 40kg, targeted relief on electricity and diesel, and immediate action against the alleged smuggling of vegetables from Afghanistan.
The PTI Kisan Wing said it would continue efforts to unite farming organisations and raise farmers’ issues on political and public forums.
