ISLAMABAD/BIRMINGHAM — On the occasion of Kashmir Exploitation Day, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) UK leaders reaffirmed their unwavering support for the people of Kashmir and said that the people of Pakistan, particularly the PPP, had always stood by the Kashmiris in their just struggle for the right to self-determination and would continue to raise their voice at every national and international forum.

The statement was issued by Chaudhry Shabbir Hussain Dadayalvi, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and Senior Vice President, PPP Birmingham Branch (UK); Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Former General Secretary, PPP Midlands (UK); Chaudhry Muhammad Manzoor, Former Senior Vice President, PPP UK; Chaudhry Fazl Hussain, Former President, PPP Midlands (UK); Chaudhry Muhammad Amin, Federal Council Member, PPP UK; and Mirza Gulzar Hussain, Former Advisor to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and Leader, PPP UK.

The PPP UK leaders said that August 5, 2019, marked a dark chapter in the history of the Kashmiri people, when the special constitutional status of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir was revoked, undermining the fundamental, political and human rights of the Kashmiri people.

They said that despite continued hardships, restrictions and serious concerns over human rights, the people of Kashmir had maintained their courage and determination to pursue their legitimate political rights.

The leaders said that PPP Co-Chairman and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had consistently supported the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. They reaffirmed that the PPP remained committed to the principled position of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that the people of Kashmir should be given the right to determine their future in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

They called upon the international community, the United Nations and international human rights organisations to take effective notice of the situation in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and play a meaningful role in ensuring justice and the protection of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.

On Kashmir Exploitation Day, the PPP UK leaders reiterated that under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Pakistan Peoples Party would continue providing political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of Kashmir at every level.

They said that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people would not go in vain and expressed hope that the day would come when the people of Kashmir would be able to determine their own future through their free will.

“The Pakistan Peoples Party stood with the people of Kashmir, stands with them today, and will always stand with them.”
