RAWALPINDI—Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rawalpindi Maliha Sehar chaired a meeting of price magistrates on Monday to review price control measures, availability of essential commodities at official rates, and enforcement against profiteering across the district.
The meeting directed all price magistrates to further strengthen daily inspections in markets and commercial centres and ensure strict implementation of the price lists issued by the Punjab government. Officials were also instructed to continue indiscriminate action against profiteering, hoarding, artificial inflation and overcharging.
The meeting was informed that from July 1 to July 27, 2026, a total of 82,273 inspections were carried out across the district. As a result, 13,543 violators were fined, with penalties amounting to Rs. 3.815 million. During the same period, 102 shops and business premises were sealed, while 20 individuals were arrested.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC (General) Maliha Sehar said ensuring the availability of essential commodities at government-notified prices was the district administration’s top priority. She directed price magistrates to increase their field presence, promptly address public complaints and make the price control campaign more effective to provide maximum relief to consumers.
