ISLAMABAD — The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) and Jordan’s Arab Thought Forum (ATF) held a bilateral meeting to discuss ways to strengthen institutional cooperation, enhance policy dialogue, and explore opportunities for joint research. The meeting was organised by ISSI’s Centre for Afghanistan, Middle East and Africa (CAMEA).
The meeting built on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ISSI and ATF in October 2025, which established a framework for bilateral cooperation and institutional coordination.
Ambassador Moin ul Haque, Director General of ISSI, reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Jordan, stating that Jordan holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Pakistan. He emphasised the importance of closer collaboration on regional issues, particularly developments in the Middle East, which remain a shared concern for the Muslim world.
Dr. Amani Ghazi Jarrar, Secretary General of the Arab Thought Forum, appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing role in the region and stressed the need for a Pakistan–Arab strategic dialogue to strengthen political engagement, deepen mutual understanding, and promote cooperation on regional and international issues.
She outlined key areas of cooperation, including promoting human dignity and shared security, strengthening intellectual and institutional engagement, advancing strategic foresight to address emerging regional challenges, and translating shared objectives into practical outcomes through collaborative research and policy-oriented initiatives.
The participants also discussed human dignity and the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, emphasising that these issues concern fundamental human rights and the political aspirations of the people, rather than merely territorial disputes.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Amina Khan, Director of CAMEA, and other colleagues from the centre.
