ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja has said that the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme has been further simplified and improved to provide maximum relief to deserving citizens.

Addressing a press conference, she said the registration SMS for the scheme had been made completely free, while the previous limit of five litres of petrol per token had also been removed.

She said all motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqis registered after January 1, 2006, were eligible for the scheme. Those purchasing less than five litres would also receive a weekly subsidy of up to PKR 500.

According to the minister, 1.75 million citizens joined the scheme from September 14 to 19, with 91.6 percent of registrations coming from two- and three-wheelers. So far, 655,067 citizens have received relief fuel.

Shaza Fatima urged citizens to register only through official channels and avoid sharing personal information with unauthorized persons. Citizens can call 9771 for information or complaints.
