MUZAFFARABAD — Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Iftikhar Gillani has said that the legal fraternity has a key role in upholding the rule of law, protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring access to justice.

He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of the Central Bar Association (CBA), led by its President Raja Zaigham Iftikhar, which called on him here today.

The Prime Minister said lawyers had played an important role in promoting democratic values, safeguarding constitutional rights and strengthening the rule of law in Azad Kashmir. He assured the delegation that the government would address the legal community’s problems on a priority basis.

Meanwhile, talking to PML-N leader and President of the Protection of Rights Association, Neelum Valley, Raja Zafar Iqbal Khan, Prime Minister Gillani said development of remote areas across Azad Kashmir, particularly Neelum Valley, was among the government’s top priorities.

He described Neelum Valley as an important tourism destination and said its development and improved road infrastructure could contribute to strengthening the state’s economy.

Raja Zafar Iqbal Khan also presented a bouquet of flowers to the newly elected Prime Minister.
