MURREE — The historic settlement of Ghalahra in New Muree continues to remain deprived of a basic road facility. In Union Council Charahan, the road from Government Boys Primary School Ghalahra to Al-Habib Mosque, Lower Ghalahra, is in a severely dilapidated condition, causing serious difficulties for local residents.

According to local residents, on July 18, 1988, the then Chairman of the Union Council, the late Raja Muhammad Irshad, released funds for the construction of the road. Following this, residents constructed a dirt road on a self-help basis. However, in 2018, only 200 meters of the road was constructed, while substandard pipeline work further damaged the route.

Residents say that due to the poor condition of the road, children are forced to walk, while patients have to be carried on chairs or charpoys to the main road. Elderly people also face difficulties reaching the mosque, particularly for Friday prayers.

The residents have appealed to the concerned authorities and elected representatives to immediately approve and begin construction of a paved road from the Government Boys Primary School to Al-Habib Mosque, so that the hardships faced by the local population can be brought to an end.
