ISLAMABAD — PTI Farmers Wing Central Secretary Information Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich has called on the federal and provincial governments to declare flood-affected agricultural districts calamity-hit and provide immediate financial assistance to farmers.
In a statement, he said monsoon rains, floods and soil erosion have caused severe damage to fruit orchards, maize, cotton, vegetables, livestock and irrigation infrastructure across the country.
Sadhraich demanded the immediate restoration of damaged canals and rural roads, along with the waiver of agricultural loans and taxes for affected farmers. He also urged authorities to take emergency measures before the upcoming Rabi wheat-sowing season.
He warned that failure to provide timely relief could lead to food shortages and increased food insecurity, urging the government to take practical measures on the ground instead of relying on announcements.
