MANDI BAHAUDDIN—A high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Adeel Haider Bariar reviewed flood preparedness in view of the expected monsoon rains and the risk of flooding in the Jhelum and Chenab rivers.

Officials informed the meeting that the district administration, Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, Police, WASA, Municipal Committees, Gujranwala Waste Management Company and other departments have completed joint preparations to tackle any flood emergency. Machinery has been inspected and certified operational, while arrangements have been made for the safe evacuation of residents and livestock from vulnerable riverside villages.
Deputy Commissioner Adeel Haider Bariar directed all departments to work in close coordination to protect lives and property. He emphasized that there should be no shortage of rescue boats, transport, relief camps, food, medicines, animal fodder and other emergency supplies.
He also instructed the Irrigation Department, Drainage authorities and Municipal Committees to ensure the cleaning of rainwater drains and directed Assistant Commissioners to conduct field inspections of flood embankments, drainage systems and emergency machinery. He further ordered the removal of encroachments along riverbanks and drains, maintenance of sewerage systems, and repair of flood relief equipment to ensure complete preparedness for any emergency.
