Sports Board Punjab has assessed the cricket cup performance of its players in a high-level meeting chaired by Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi in Lahore. The review covered fitness levels, technical ability, consistency, and the overall contribution of players taking part in the President’s Cricket Cup organized by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Officials examined how the squad performed in the tournament and discussed practical steps to improve standards ahead of future domestic and national events. The meeting also focused on strengthening player development through targeted planning, modern coaching methods, and better match preparation.
To further support promising cricketers, it was decided that a specialized training camp will be arranged soon. The camp is expected to sharpen technical skills, improve physical conditioning, raise match awareness, and help players adapt to contemporary cricket requirements. Sports Board Punjab officials said the aim is to build a stronger pipeline of talent capable of competing at higher levels.
Players who show consistent and outstanding cricket cup performance will be considered for future representation of Sports Board Punjab in major cricketing events. The department said this approach will help deserving athletes move forward in their careers while maintaining a strong focus on merit and performance.
Speaking at the meeting, DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi reaffirmed the department’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and providing athletes with quality training opportunities. He also announced that preparations for the CM Punjab Youth Games 2026 have begun, marking an important step toward a province-wide effort to identify and develop emerging athletes.
According to officials, the Youth Games will gather thousands of young competitors from across Punjab and offer them a platform to showcase their abilities in multiple sports disciplines. The initiative is intended to encourage healthy competition, increase youth participation in sports, and strengthen the province’s wider development framework for future talent.
