ISLAMABAD — The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior has recommended a fresh investigation into the murder case of Hina Javed after expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation conducted by Punjab Police and the Crime Control Department (CCD).

The matter was taken up during the committee meeting held on October 29, 2026, chaired by MNA Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Hina Javed’s family also attended the meeting.

The case was placed on the committee’s special agenda on the directions of the National Assembly Speaker following a request by Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Secretary Dr. Shahida Rehmani.

After receiving detailed briefings from Punjab Police and CCD officials, the committee expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation and recommended a fresh probe into all aspects of the case to ensure transparency and impartiality.

Dr. Shahida Rehmani thanked the National Assembly Speaker, committee chairman, Interior Minister and committee members for taking up the matter and supporting the recommendation for a fresh investigation.

The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to protecting women’s rights, combating violence against women and ensuring justice for victims and their families, stressing the need for transparent investigations and institutional accountability.
