Rawalpindi: Secretary Local Government Punjab Zaib Bin Maqsood and Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir, accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Gujar Khan, conducted a surprise visit to Gujar Khan and reviewed facilities being provided to the public, official records and cleanliness arrangements at various local government institutions.
During the visit, the officers inspected several Union Councils and reviewed official records, public facilities and citizens’ issues. Directions were issued to serve a show-cause notice on a Union Council secretary over absence from duty.
The officers also visited the Municipal Committee Gujar Khan office and reviewed the performance of different departments, records and municipal services being provided to citizens.
Later, a meeting chaired by Secretary Local Government Punjab Zaib Bin Maqsood and Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd.) Nadeem Nasir was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi. Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Fazael Mudassar, Assistant Commissioners, Deputy Director Development, Chief Officer District Council and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed cleanliness arrangements across the district, performance of local government institutions, public facilities and ongoing measures under the Suthra Punjab programme. Officers were directed to improve the cleanliness system and ensure better municipal services for citizens.
Following the meeting, the Secretary Local Government Punjab and Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi visited the Suthra Punjab dumping site and reviewed waste management, cleanliness and waste disposal arrangements. They also inspected cleanliness arrangements under the Suthra Punjab programme along GT Road and other areas of the city.
The officers directed that cleanliness arrangements in residential areas, major roads and public places be further improved and effective monitoring of cleanliness operations under the Suthra Punjab programme be ensured.
