ISLAMABAD: Central Information Secretary of the PTI Kisan Wing Khalid Nawaz Saddhraich has announced that the party will approach the higher judiciary against what he described as unconstitutional arrests of PTI workers across Punjab and misuse of Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO).
In a statement issued after meeting PTI Central Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, Saddhraich urged the judiciary, particularly the Constitutional Court, to take notice of alleged violations of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution.
He alleged that thousands of PTI workers were being detained across Punjab and claimed police were also seeking written guarantees from workers that they would not participate in the September 27 protest or welcome the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister during his Punjab tour.
Saddhraich said the PTI Kisan Wing supported the Pakistan Kissan Ittehad’s announced farmers’ march towards Islamabad on September 25. He maintained that the party would challenge the alleged crackdown and misuse of 3-MPO in the higher courts.
