Gujranwala, September 6, 2026: Regional Police Officer Khurram Shehzad Haider Waraich chaired the 7th Regional Command Conference, reviewing crime control, police performance and security arrangements for major events.
The meeting noted a 23% decline in crimes against persons and 46% reduction in property-related crimes during the first eight months of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Robbery declined by 87%, while murder cases fell by 37% and attempted murder cases by 24%.
The RPO said effective action against property crimes should now be followed by stronger measures against crimes targeting children and women. He directed district police chiefs to improve investigations, strengthen action against criminal gangs and ensure timely resolution of public complaints.
During August, Gujranwala Region Police safely recovered 538 women and 43 children and reunited them with their families. The RPO also ordered awareness campaigns and preventive measures to protect children and women.
