ATTOCK — Member of the National Assembly and Member of the Supreme Judicial Council Sheikh Aftab Ahmed has said that the government, under the leadership of PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is striving to fulfill the promises made to the people in its manifesto.

He expressed these views while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Pindi Mehri Road in Tehsil Hassan Abdal. The road has been completed at a cost of millions of rupees. Former Punjab Assembly member Sardar Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, popularly known as Mithu Khan, and former Punjab Assembly candidate Sheikh Suleman Sarwar also accompanied him at the ceremony.

Former MPA Sardar Iftikhar Ahmed Khan and other speakers also addressed the gathering. The ceremony was presided over by PML-N PP-2 General Secretary Abid Shehzad Malik.

A large number of PML-N office-bearers, workers, political and social figures, and local residents attended the event. Among those present were former Attock Municipal Committee chairman Sheikh Shahid Mahmood Shahidi, PML-N Attock District President Muhammad Saleem Shehzad, District Senior Vice President Zulfiqar Ali Baloch, PML-N leaders Sheikh Ajmal Mahmood and Talal Ashraf Butt, former Union Council chairman Haji Rafiqat Ali Khan, PP-2 President Sardar Qadeer Khan, former councillor Sheikh Arif Mahmood, PML-N Hassan Abdal City President Chaudhry Ashfaq Ahmed, Chaudhry Ijaz Shakoor, Kaka Khan, Senior Vice President Yasir Janoon and Hafiz Ehsan.

The participants thanked Sheikh Aftab Ahmed for fulfilling the longstanding demand of residents through the construction of the road.

Addressing the ceremony, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said the PML-N governments at the federal and provincial levels were taking comprehensive measures to provide basic facilities to the people, launch development projects and resolve public issues.

He said the government’s priority was to provide citizens with essential facilities, including healthcare, education, roads, clean drinking water and other basic necessities at their doorstep. He added that practical steps were being taken through development projects to bring less-developed areas into the mainstream of development.

Sheikh Aftab Ahmed also praised the armed forces for their commitment and courage in defending the country under the leadership of Field Marshal General Asim Munir. He said national institutions were playing an important role in combating terrorism and promoting peace and stability in the country.

“God willing, Pakistan will soon move further towards peace, development and prosperity,” he said.

Sheikh Aftab Ahmed said that Tehsil Hassan Abdal had remained outside his constituency for nearly 15 years, during which the area did not receive adequate attention from elected representatives. He said the basic needs and development issues of Hassan Abdal had been neglected in the past, but practical measures were now being taken to address the area’s longstanding sense of deprivation.

He claimed that hundreds of development schemes worth billions of rupees had been launched in Tehsil Hassan Abdal, with most already completed and several others at various stages of completion.

According to him, completion of these projects would significantly improve roads, infrastructure and other civic facilities in Hassan Abdal. He described the construction of Pindi Mehri Road as an important part of the ongoing development process, saying it would make travelling easier for local residents and help promote economic and social activities in the area.

“The government is determined to end the sense of deprivation in Tehsil Hassan Abdal and put it on the path of development like Hazro and Attock tehsils,” Sheikh Aftab said.

He stressed that the purpose of development projects was not merely to construct roads but also to improve the overall quality of life of the people. He added that the government would utilise available resources to address public issues and launch further development projects.

Participants of the ceremony welcomed the construction of Pindi Mehri Road and thanked Sheikh Aftab Ahmed and other elected representatives, saying that the project had resolved a longstanding problem of the local population and would significantly improve connectivity and transportation in the area.
