MANDI BAHAUDDIN: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Adeel Haider, an important meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Mandi Bahauddin was held at the DC Office under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Dr. Iffat Nisa.
The meeting reviewed the performance of the transport department, activation of the Gojra Axle Load Management Point, protection of newly constructed roads from damage caused by overloaded heavy vehicles and improvement of the public transport system.
Officials also discussed overcharging of fares, implementation of fixed fares, route permit violations, unfit vehicles, overloading, illegal transport, traffic accidents, encroachments at bus stands and stops, and public complaints.
Secretary RTA Faryal Fakhar briefed the meeting on measures being taken to make the Gojra Axle Load Management Point operational and prevent overloading. The performance of the Vehicle Inspection and Certification System was also reviewed.
Dr. Iffat Nisa directed officials to ensure safe, regular and quality transport facilities, effective enforcement of traffic rules and protection of roads and public infrastructure.
