KARACHI — The Education Foundation Sindh (EFS) marked Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Government Boys and Girls Primary and Secondary School, Shireen Jinnah Colony Campus, highlighting efforts to expand access to quality education.
The event also recognised the philanthropic contribution of Sayeeda Leghari, CEO of Sukkur Beverages and adoptive benefactor of the school campus. Speaking on the occasion, she described providing education to children as “Sadqah-e-Jariya” (everlasting charity).
Over the past 18 years, her support has helped provide more than 3,000 boys and girls with free education from kindergarten to matriculation, including tuition, textbooks, stationery, uniforms and dedicated learning facilities.
Managing Director EFS Ghanwar Ali Leghari praised Sayeeda Leghari’s continued commitment to education and highlighted the foundation’s expanding role in the province.
According to EFS, the foundation supports more than 3,000 government and private schools across Sindh, benefiting over one million students. It also employs around 30,000 teachers, including 20,000 women, and provides educational opportunities to female and minority students.
The foundation has also awarded more than 4,000 full scholarships, along with hostel facilities, meals, uniforms, books and transportation support to deserving students.
The Independence Day ceremony concluded with flag hoisting, cultural performances by students and refreshments.
