HYDERABAD—Government College University (GCU) Hyderabad organized a seminar and solidarity walk to observe Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, while also formally inaugurating its Independence Day celebrations. The event was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan and attended by deans, faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students.

Participants expressed unwavering solidarity with the people of Kashmir. A one-minute silence was observed in memory of Kashmiri martyrs and in protest against the ongoing atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Special prayers were also offered for the freedom of Kashmir and for peace, stability, and prosperity in Pakistan.

Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Moazzam Ali Khan said Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and reaffirmed the nation’s support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right to self-determination. He stated that the voice of the Kashmiri people could not be silenced through force and urged the international community to take notice of human rights violations in IIOJK and play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Independence Day celebrations, the Vice Chancellor said freedom is the result of the immense sacrifices made by Pakistan’s forefathers. He emphasized that educational institutions have a vital responsibility to educate young people about the objectives of the Pakistan Movement and to instill in them the values of national unity, responsibility, and patriotism.

He encouraged students to contribute to Pakistan’s progress, stability, and prosperity through education, hard work, and strong moral character.

The Vice Chancellor also informed participants that GCU Hyderabad’s Independence Day celebrations began on August 1, featuring a series of academic, literary, speech, and patriotic activities across the campus. He noted that students are participating in the celebrations with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of national spirit.
