ISLAMABAD– Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Farmers Wing Central Information Secretary Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich on Wednesday criticized the government’s repeated increases in petroleum prices, describing them as unjustified despite a reported 12 to 15 percent decline in international oil prices.
In a statement, Sadhraich said the government had failed to pass on the benefit of lower global fuel prices to consumers, while soaring inflation continued to place millions of Pakistanis under severe economic pressure.
He alleged that frequent increases in petroleum prices had sharply raised agricultural production costs, including irrigation, harvesting and transportation, ultimately contributing to higher food prices and inflation.
Calling for transparency in the fuel pricing mechanism, Khalid Nawaz Sadhraich urged the government to provide immediate relief to inflation-hit citizens, particularly farmers, by passing on the benefit of lower international oil prices.
