ISLAMABAD — Vice President Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman, in her message on the birthday of President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, praised his role in strengthening democracy and said that his services for the continuity of democratic institutions are commendable.
Senator Sherry Rehman said that President Zardari has struggled for the Constitution and democracy in every era and remained steadfast despite facing a long period of imprisonment.
She said that President Asif Ali Zardari transferred presidential powers to Parliament, while the 18th Constitutional Amendment granted greater autonomy to the provinces. She added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was given its identity and the “Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan” package was introduced for the province of Balochistan.
Paying tribute to his political resilience, Sherry Rehman said that during the difficult period following the martyrdom of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, President Zardari raised the slogan of “Pakistan Khappay”.
She said that under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Pakistan’s democratic journey continues. Senator Sherry Rehman also prayed for his good health, happiness, and success.
