RAWALPINDI: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), through its University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT), organised a faculty development training programme titled “Artificial Intelligence for Everyone” from July 13 to 24, 2026, to improve the digital competencies of teachers and introduce them to modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for teaching, research and academic productivity.
Vice Chancellor PMAS-AAUR Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. A total of 45 faculty members from different academic departments successfully completed the training programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Qamar-uz-Zaman said Artificial Intelligence had become an essential part of the modern digital environment and was transforming education, research, industry and public services around the world.
He said universities needed to prepare their faculty and students to use AI technologies effectively in order to stay competitive in a world increasingly driven by technology. He added that faculty members equipped with modern AI tools could provide more engaging and effective learning experiences and guide students to use these technologies responsibly and ethically.
Director UIIT Prof Dr Yaser Hafeez thanked the vice chancellor, trainers and participants for their role in making the programme successful. He said the training showed how AI tools could be incorporated into higher education while upholding academic integrity.
Prof Dr Yaser Hafeez added that UIIT would continue to arrange similar capacity-building programmes for faculty members and students to strengthen digital skills and encourage the effective use of emerging technologies across the university.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields and certificates were distributed among the trainers and participants.
