FAISALABAD—Commissioner Faisalabad Imran Hamid Sheikh chaired a meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee to review law and order, flood preparedness, and other key administrative matters across the division.
Brigadier Yaseen of the Pakistan Army, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhera, Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers (DPOs), and other senior officials from all four districts attended the meeting.
The participants reviewed security arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), preparations for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections, implementation of the Flood Control Plan, the ongoing repatriation of Afghan nationals, and other administrative issues. Deputy Commissioners presented detailed briefings on the progress of preparations.
Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh directed all district administrations to ensure comprehensive security and administrative arrangements for Chehlum, stressing that maintaining peace and public order remained the top priority. He said district administrations were coordinating closely with peace committees and religious scholars to promote harmony and prevent any untoward incidents.
He said the Flood Control Plan was being implemented effectively across the division, adding that flood relief camps were fully operational while the entire administrative machinery remained on high alert to respond to any emergency.
The Commissioner also instructed Deputy Commissioners to launch extensive tree plantation campaigns and ensure all plantations were registered through the Forest Department’s digital application for effective monitoring. He emphasized that plantation drives should be practical and result-oriented rather than symbolic.
He further informed the meeting that the sale and purchase of highly toxic wheat preservation tablets at medical stores had been banned across the division as a public safety measure.
Brigadier Yaseen expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of the civil administration and assured the Pakistan Army’s full cooperation in maintaining law and order and responding to any emergency situation.
