Sardar Iftikhar Rashid Demands High-Level Probe into Attack on Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan

ISLAMABAD (Staff Reporter): Former Advisor to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Iftikhar Rashid, has termed the alleged assassination attempt on former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan as a highly alarming incident and called for an immediate, impartial, and high-level investigation.
He said the attack was far too serious to be treated as an ordinary incident. The government, he added, should constitute a high-level inquiry commission to thoroughly examine the motives behind the attack, its planning, security arrangements, and all other related aspects so that the facts are brought before the public and those responsible are brought to justice.
Sardar Iftikhar Rashid stated that despite a convoy of more than 30 vehicles, the attackers directly targeted the vehicle carrying Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, highlighting the gravity of the incident. During the attack, a security guard sacrificed his life while protecting the former prime minister, demonstrating exceptional courage, dedication, and loyalty.
He further said it is the responsibility of the state’s security institutions and the administration to ensure a comprehensive investigation, take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future, and guarantee the safety and security of the public, political leaders, and elected representatives. He emphasized that while political differences are a normal part of a democratic society, such incidents push society toward lawlessness and instability. He urged the relevant state institutions to take strict action against those responsible.
