ISLAMABAD: Acting President of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Tahir Ayub, has said that Pakistan’s livestock and meat sector has the potential to become a major driver of exports, employment, and foreign exchange earnings if supported through modern infrastructure, value addition, and internationally recognized quality standards.
Speaking at a seminar on the “Future of Livestock and Meat Business”, organized by ICCI in collaboration with Signature Skills and Certifications, Tahir Ayub said Pakistan possesses abundant livestock resources and can emerge as a leading global exporter of halal meat through investment in modern meat processing, cold chain logistics, traceability systems, research, innovation, and international certifications.
Addressing the seminar, Brig. (Retd.) Adil Ashraf Naveed, CEO of Fauji Meat Limited, Dr. Shehzad Jadoon, CEO of Alltech Pakistan, Peerzada Wajid Hussain Shah, former WTO Chief, and Raja Tahir Lateef, CEO of Signature Meat, stressed the need for scientific livestock management, modern farming practices, stronger sanitary compliance, improved processing facilities, branding, and a skilled workforce to unlock Pakistan’s export potential.
The seminar, moderated by Sajjad Hussain Langrial, Chairman ICCI Standing Committee on Meat and Livestock, was attended by entrepreneurs, exporters, livestock farmers, processors, and members of the business community. ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry thanked the speakers and participants and reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s livestock and meat industry.
