Islamabad, 25 June 2026: A delegation from the Federation of Progressive Students visited the Cuban embassy and held a cordial meeting with Cuban Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres.
Led by General Secretary Fatima Shahzad, the delegation included students from various universities who received an update on the situation in Cuba, including the impact of the energy blockade, the broader US embargo, and other unilateral coercive measures facing the Cuban people. They were also briefed on the measures adopted by the Cuban nation in response.
The students expressed their solidarity with the Cuban people and reaffirmed their support for the sovereignty of Cuba and their rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States. They also conveyed their willingness to join the solidarity campaign for Cuba.
During the visit, the ambassador was presented with a Letter of Solidarity with Cuba and a painting by Fatima Shahzad depicting leaders of nations that have followed a sovereign path, along with Cuba’s spirit of international solidarity and the role of its leaders and officials.
The students also shared plans for activities to mark 26 July and discussed efforts to organise donations for the island. Ambassador Damián Cordero Torres thanked the delegation for the visit and support, saying the gesture reflected true gratitude for Cuba’s solidarity.
