ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing all possible resources and facilities to Daanish schools, stressing the importance of quality education and modern technology in creating opportunities for Pakistan’s youth.
Addressing the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education and Gauth AI on Monday, the prime minister welcomed the technology company’s initiative to provide free subscriptions to support students and teachers.
He said Gauth AI would initially provide 4,000 free subscriptions in Pakistan, including 1,000 for teachers associated with the government’s Daanish schools initiative. The company would also provide 180 free subscriptions for local students.
The prime minister described Daanish schools as institutions providing free education and assured that the government would extend all possible support to them.
Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the initiative reflected the government’s vision of promoting digital solutions in education. She added that Pakistan was the first country after the United States to receive the paid versions of Gauth AI.
ByteDance Regional Director for Global Public Policy Maria Kohan said the initiative would help expand access to technology-based learning. She highlighted the company’s educational initiatives, including TikTok’s dedicated STEM feed launched in Pakistan in partnership with relevant government ministries.
Gauth AI is an artificial intelligence-powered learning platform that offers step-by-step explanations, personalised tutoring and interactive study tools. The company said it serves more than 200 million users worldwide.
