ISLAMABAD– The Supreme Court has granted bail to Dr. Syed Adil Haider and Dr. Nadir Hussain in a case involving alleged illegal kidney transplantation at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, Islamabad. The court approved their release against surety bonds of Rs. 200,000 each and set aside the Islamabad High Court’s decision rejecting their bail pleas.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Aqeel Abbasi and Justice Ahmed Shehzad observed that the correspondence and alleged No Objection Certificate (NOC) on the case record required further scrutiny.
According to the allegations, complainant Waseem Akram, a brick-kiln worker, told police on May 19, 2026, that he had been promised Rs. 600,000 in exchange for his kidney, but the payment was not made. The prosecution also cited alleged financial transactions involving the accused doctors and cash recovered from an office.
Additional Attorney General Shafqat Abbasi argued that the hospital was not recognised under the relevant HOTA law and questioned the legality of an internal committee formed at the facility.
The court granted bail, observing that the matter required further investigation. The bail order does not constitute a final determination of the allegations against the accused. An alleged agent, identified as Saleem, remains absconding, according to the case details.
