THARPARKAR: Renowned physician, social worker and respected figure of the Memon community from Diplo, Dr. Haji Shafi Muhammad Hamdani, has passed away. News of his death has cast a wave of grief across Diplo, the Memon community and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Haji Shafi Muhammad Hamdani was known in the region as a kind-hearted, courteous and skilled physician who was deeply committed to public service. Throughout his long professional career, he provided medical services and played an important role in supporting poor and needy people.

Dr. Shafi Muhammad served at a time when Thar faced a severe shortage of doctors and medical facilities. Despite limited resources, he remained available to treat patients and, when necessary, even performed minor surgical procedures under the light of a torch, continuing his service to humanity under difficult circumstances.

He also served in administrative capacities at Diplo Hospital and performed his duties at Mithi Civil Hospital. For him, a hospital was not merely a building but a centre of hope for sick and helpless people.

Alongside his medical services, Dr. Haji Shafi Muhammad remained actively involved in social welfare activities. He quietly helped poor families, arranged food for needy people and provided financial assistance for the marriages of daughters from underprivileged families. One of his notable qualities was that he preferred serving humanity without publicity or seeking recognition.

Diplo, a historic town that has for centuries remained an important centre of trade, social interaction and cultural activities between Sindh and Kutch, will remember Dr. Haji Shafi Muhammad Hamdani with great respect for his contributions to the social life of the town.

Citizens of the area, members of the Memon community and various social circles expressed deep sorrow and grief over his passing and prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased and patience for the bereaved family.
