SARGODHA –A special awareness session on breastfeeding, child health and early nutrition was held on Radio Pakistan Sargodha’s popular programme “Shaheen Sargodha,” featuring pediatrician and neonatologist Dr. Muhammad Usman Mazhar Malik, CEO of Al-Haram Hospital.

Hosted by Senior Anchorpersons Sibtain Baloch and Inam Khan, the programme focused on the importance of breastfeeding and the nutritional needs of newborns.

Dr. Muhammad Usman Mazhar Malik said breast milk is a natural and ideal source of nutrition for newborns and stressed that breastfeeding should be encouraged during the early stages of life, where medically appropriate. He also discussed WHO recommendations, child development and protection against diseases.

Listeners from different areas called the programme and asked questions about breastfeeding, child health and early nutrition. The doctor answered their queries and advised parents to seek qualified medical advice instead of relying on unverified information.

He also urged parents to ensure that hospitals or medical centres where babies are delivered have appropriate newborn nursery facilities for monitoring, temperature control and other essential care when required.

Dr. Malik appreciated Radio Pakistan Sargodha for promoting public health awareness, while the hosts and programme team were also thanked for their efforts.
