QUETTA– The Excise and Anti-Narcotics Department Balochistan South Zone has conducted what it described as Pakistan’s biggest-ever operation against the international drug mafia, recovering 1,013 kilograms of pure crystal methamphetamine (Ice) from the coastal area of Gadani.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth Rs 74.19 billion in the international market. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Director General Excise and Anti-Narcotics South Zone Muhammad Zaman, on the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and Secretary Excise Syed Zafar Ali Bukhari.
Officials said the seizure has inflicted a historic financial loss on international drug cartels.
During the past two years, the Excise South Zone has collectively recovered 1,638kg of Ice, 620kg of hashish and 27,543 bottles/cans of foreign liquor and beer, causing an estimated Rs 133.56 billion financial loss to drug cartels.
Director General Muhammad Zaman said indiscriminate operations against drug smuggling would continue to protect the younger generation and strengthen security along the coastal borders.
