ISLAMABAD — Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq expressed displeasure during Question Hour over the non-receipt of an answer to a question raised by MNA Muhammad Ilyas Chaudhary regarding the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
The Speaker also took notice of the absence of officials of the concerned ministry from the National Assembly and questioned Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar as to why the answer had not been provided during the last four consecutive sittings.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the question had been raised during the 26th sitting of the National Assembly, but despite several subsequent sittings, the House had still not received an answer.
The Speaker termed the delay a matter of serious concern and directed Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry to immediately summon the Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary and concerned Section Officer of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination to the House.
He directed the officials to remain present in the House until the conclusion of the proceedings.
The Speaker made it clear that concerned ministries were responsible for providing timely and comprehensive answers to questions raised by parliamentarians during Question Hour, adding that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
Subsequently, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq temporarily suspended the proceedings of the National Assembly until the attendance of the concerned officials of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination in the House.
