PARIS: Pakistan and France held consultations on multilateral affairs in Paris, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation, promoting multilateralism and addressing emerging global challenges.

The Pakistan side was led by Ambassador Nabeel Munir, Special Secretary (United Nations) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the French delegation was headed by Nathalie Broadhurst, Director for the United Nations, International Organisations, Human Rights and Francophonie.

The consultations were held under the Pakistan-France Bilateral Roadmap (2023). Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation and exchanged views on UN80, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Financing for Development.

The two countries also discussed recent regional and international developments and agreed to enhance coordination at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations, on peace and security issues.

Key areas including UN peacekeeping, counter-terrorism and United Nations reform were also discussed.

The talks were held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with both sides agreeing to explore new avenues of cooperation. It was also agreed that the next round of consultations would be held in Islamabad on mutually agreed dates.
