RAWALPINDI — Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Danyal Chaudhry said India’s August 5, 2019 move to alter the status of Jammu and Kashmir has failed to achieve its objectives and has been rejected by the Kashmiri people.
Addressing a Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir ceremony at Waqar-un-Nisa College, Rawalpindi, he said Pakistan stands firmly with the people of Kashmir and will continue to support their right to self-determination. The event was attended by elected representatives, government officials, academics, students, and members of civil society.
Barrister Danyal Chaudhry said India’s actions of August 5, 2019, were in violation of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions. He maintained that the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be changed through unilateral measures and alleged that efforts to alter the region’s demographic composition would not succeed.
He further stated that despite restrictions and hardships, the Kashmiri people remain steadfast in their decades-long struggle for self-determination, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for their cause.
