QUETTA —The joint security operation, Operation Shaban, conducted by the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan, and Police against militant groups continued on Sunday.
According to security sources, 68 militants have been killed so far during the intelligence-based operation, bringing the total number of militants killed in various operations since July 5 to 105.
The operation is ongoing in the mountainous areas around Ziarat, including Kharan, Mastung, and nearby regions. Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove praised the security forces, stating that the operation will continue until all terrorists are eliminated.
Meanwhile, the bodies of police personnel martyred in the recent Ziarat attack remain at the protest sit-in at Koyla Phatak. Talks between the sit-in committee and provincial ministers failed to reach a breakthrough, and the deadlock continues.
The ongoing sit-in has severely disrupted traffic in Quetta, causing hardship for commuters amid extreme heat. Citizens have called for immediate negotiations to resolve the situation.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the security forces, saying the success of Operation Shaban reflects Pakistan’s firm commitment to safeguarding national security. He paid tribute to the courage and professionalism of the officers and personnel involved.
