MITHI/Tharparkar — Jamaat-e-Islami Tharparkar organised a ceremony in Mithi to honour students who secured top positions in the MDCAT 2026 examination. The event was attended by a large number of students, parents, teachers and prominent citizens.
Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh General Secretary Muhammad Yousuf was the chief guest, while district leaders of the party also attended the ceremony.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Later, the high-achieving students were invited to the stage and presented with laptops, computers and commemorative shields in recognition of their academic achievements.
Addressing the gathering, Muhammad Yousuf said inflation in the country had reached alarming levels, with flour being sold at Rs180 per kilogram. He said rising prices had made it increasingly difficult for low-income families to afford two meals a day, alleging that the ruling authorities had failed to address the hardships faced by poor citizens.
Referring to his three-year tenure as town chairman, he claimed that he had not allowed even a single rupee of corruption during his tenure. He maintained that meaningful development was possible without corruption if public representatives demonstrated honesty and sincere commitment.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami had served the people of Tharparkar without discrimination based on colour, race or background. He added that Alkhidmat Foundation had undertaken projects worth billions of rupees in education, healthcare, clean drinking water and borewell facilities.
Expressing concern over the spread of drugs and alcohol, Yousuf said such trends were damaging the country's younger generation. He strongly condemned the situation and called for effective measures to protect young people.
He said Jamaat-e-Islami wanted Tharparkar to develop into a modern and prosperous region comparable to Islamabad. However, he regretted that children in the district continued to suffer from hunger and water shortages.
Criticising the Pakistan Peoples Party's 15-year rule in the region, he alleged that the people of Tharparkar had not witnessed adequate progress in essential services. He questioned the provincial government over the lack of major development projects and pointed to shortcomings in healthcare, access to clean drinking water and education.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Yousuf congratulated the successful students and described them as the future of the country. He expressed hope that they would pursue careers in medicine and serve the underprivileged communities of Tharparkar.
The ceremony highlighted the importance of academic achievement and encouraged young students to contribute to the development and welfare of their communities.
