Report: Hurish Shah
Islamabad: The family of Hina Javed, a married woman murdered in Rawalpindi, has urged the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab to establish a special judicial commission to ensure a transparent investigation into the case. The family has also demanded that DNA and forensic reports be shared with them.
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad, the victim’s brother, Fahad Javed, described the killing as horrific and said the family could not imagine the suffering his sister had endured in her final moments.
Fahad alleged that while the family was devastated by the incident, Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, his father and their employee appeared unusually calm. He said the family was told that two robbers had entered the house and killed Hina, but they became suspicious of this explanation and questioned its credibility.
He said the FIR names three individuals, including Faisal and Zeeshan. He further claimed that WhatsApp messages between Hina and her sister, Nazia, in which Hina had reportedly discussed tensions in her relationship with Faisal, had been deleted.
According to Fahad, forensic examinations of Faisal’s laptop and mobile phone have also not yet been conducted.
Rejecting the recommendations of a high-level meeting, the family called for a special judicial commission to oversee a comprehensive and impartial investigation. They also demanded access to the DNA report, the findings of forensic investigations and a thorough forensic examination of all relevant digital evidence.
The family appealed to the prime minister and the Punjab chief minister to take effective measures to ensure justice and bring all aspects of Hina Javed’s murder to light.
