PESHAWAR — A dedicated Pink Bus Service has officially commenced operations in Peshawar, aimed at providing women with a safe, secure and dignified mode of transportation.
The initiative stems from the Young Leaders Convention 2026, organized by the Young Leaders Parliament (YLP) at Nishtar Hall, where YLP member Sultan Muhammad Khan presented a proposal for a women-only transport service to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mohammad Sohail Khan Afridi.
Following the proposal, the Chief Minister directed the KP Transport Department to expedite the project, leading to its implementation and official launch.
The development is part of YLP’s broader initiatives aimed at promoting youth participation, digital literacy and civic education. In collaboration with the KP Directorate of Youth Affairs, YLP recently organized the five-day National Young Leaders Summit 2026, bringing together more than 100 emerging leaders from Peshawar, Islamabad and Nathia Gali to promote national integration and policy dialogue.
A YLP delegation also recently participated in an intensive training seminar on parliamentary proceedings and legislative oversight at the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad.
At the grassroots level, YLP chapters, including its Kurram district team, have organized training sessions on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital skills at public colleges to help students prepare for the modern digital economy.
The organization has also launched its official YLP Mobile App on the Google Play Store, providing the public with access to leadership opportunities, educational programmes and organizational announcements.
The launch of the Pink Bus Service marks another initiative emerging from YLP’s efforts to provide young people with platforms to engage with decision-makers and contribute to public policy and community development.
