ISLAMKOT: Residents of Khenpliyon village in Nagarparkar taluka staged a protest outside the Islamkot Press Club, alleging an attempt to encroach upon their survey land and set fire to a livestock enclosure.
Speaking to the media, protesters Muhammad Juman Chandio and Alamuddin Chandio alleged that Ali Nawaz Chandio, a resident of the Chatouri Makan area of Mirpurkhas, had attempted to occupy their land through Hakim Chandio, Qasim Chandio and Ameer Hussain Chandio. They claimed that pits had been dug on the disputed land and a livestock enclosure had been constructed there.
The protesters said they had objected to the construction on their survey land, following which tensions allegedly escalated between the two sides.
They further alleged that the livestock enclosure was deliberately set on fire at the direction of Ali Nawaz Chandio, resulting in the burning of animals. They claimed that an attempt was subsequently made to implicate them in the incident and have a case registered against them.
According to Muhammad Juman Chandio and Alamuddin Chandio, the area’s station house officer (SHO) later visited the site and questioned local residents. They maintained that the allegations against them could not be substantiated during the inquiry.
The villagers further alleged that Ali Nawaz Chandio subsequently called members of the opposing side to Mirpurkhas, where they staged a protest and made what the villagers described as false allegations against them.
The protesters called for legal action against those responsible for what they termed baseless accusations and fabricated incidents. They also alleged that Ali Nawaz Chandio was attempting to influence police officials by invoking the names of Mir Manwar Talpur and Faryal Talpur.
Muhammad Juman Chandio and Alamuddin Chandio appealed to Mir Manwar Talpur and Faryal Talpur to take notice of the matter, ensure that the facts were established and, if their names were being misused, take appropriate action against those responsible.
The protesters urged the relevant authorities to ensure a fair investigation, protect their property rights and provide them with justice.
