ISLAMABAD — The 26th meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training, chaired by Acting Chairman Anjum Aqeel Khan, reviewed key education and student welfare issues.
The committee deferred the Hyderabad Institute for Technology and Management Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2026 until its next meeting.
Expressing serious concern over drug use and supply in educational institutions, the committee called for coordinated action by ANF, Police, HEC and FDE and sought verified data on drug-related cases, action taken and punishments awarded.
The committee also stressed that NAVTTC training programmes should be aligned with international labour market requirements, particularly in the Middle East, to improve employment opportunities for Pakistani youth.
On dyslexia, FBISE informed the committee about additional examination time and reading assistance for students. The committee called for trained remedial teachers and psychological support, while IBCC assured uniform measures across educational boards.
Regarding the reported Cambridge examination paper leakage, NCCIA informed the committee that no evidence was found linking the leakage to Pakistan, while limited access to overseas servers restricted further investigation.
The committee was also informed that around 200–250 Grade-14 teachers’ cases are pending. The Ministry assured that the cases would be resolved at the earliest.
