GUJRANWALA: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed, the District Consumer Council Gujranwala has ordered respondent Razzaq Bhatti to refund Rs65,000 to a consumer over the supply of defective and substandard furniture.

According to details, consumer Muhammad Majid had ordered furniture worth Rs65,000 from Razzaq Bhatti. However, he complained that poor and inferior-quality materials had been used instead of the required standard. As the matter could not be resolved amicably, the consumer approached the District Consumer Council Gujranwala for legal relief.

After hearing the case and reviewing the available evidence, Assistant Director District Consumer Council Chaudhry Muhammad Farooq reprimanded the respondent for providing defective and substandard furniture and ordered him to refund the full Rs65,000 paid by the consumer.

Assistant Director Chaudhry Muhammad Farooq said strict legal action would be taken against those supplying defective, substandard or non-standard goods to consumers. He said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the directions of Deputy Commissioner Gujranwala Naveed Ahmed, efforts were being made to ensure immediate and effective relief to citizens.

He appealed to citizens to approach the relevant forum in cases involving defective goods, substandard services or any form of fraud. Citizens can also file complaints online without paperwork by downloading the Consumer Protect app.
