ISLAMABAD — A delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, called on Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and discussed the sealing of commercial plazas and other regulatory issues affecting Islamabad’s business community.
The delegation raised concerns regarding CDA-related matters, including Floor Area Ratio (FAR) charges, parking requirements and compliance issues. It stressed that fire-safety enforcement should ensure public safety while providing businesses with clear guidelines, due process and reasonable opportunities to rectify deficiencies where legally permissible.
It was agreed that the issues would be pursued through structured consultation, with ICCI serving as a single-window platform between the business community and relevant government departments.
Talal Chaudhry reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a business-friendly approach and assured the delegation that genuine concerns would be addressed through a coordinated and pragmatic mechanism.
Sardar Tahir Mehmood said the business community fully supports safety standards and responsible regulation, while stressing that enforcement should facilitate compliance rather than create unnecessary disruption.
The delegation included ICCI Vice President Irfan Chaudhry, former President Mohammed Ejaz Abbasi, Executive Member Imran Minhas and former Senior Vice President Khalid Chaudhry.
