GUJRANWALA — The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Gujranwala Zone, has arrested 12 suspects allegedly involved in human trafficking, visa fraud, bribery and illegal Hawala-Hundi activities during operations conducted from August 24 to 28, 2026, in Gujranwala, Gujrat and Sialkot.
According to FIA officials, 10 suspects, including some proclaimed offenders, were arrested in cases involving human trafficking and visa fraud. The suspects allegedly defrauded citizens of Rs. 16.9 million on the pretext of sending them to Italy, Canada, Albania and Dubai. Of those arrested, four are from Gujranwala, three from Gujrat and three from Sialkot.
In Sialkot, FIA officials conducted a trap raid in the presence of a magistrate and arrested GEPCO official Zeeshan Javed red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 100,000 for the installation of an electricity meter.
Meanwhile, in Gujranwala, FIA officials arrested Muhammad Asif for allegedly operating an illegal currency exchange business without a licence. The agency recovered Rs. 2.4 million in cash and two mobile phones from his possession.
FIA officials said cases have been registered against all the arrested suspects, while further investigations are underway. The agency reiterated that indiscriminate action against human trafficking, fraud, bribery and other illegal activities will continue.
