RAWALPINDI –‘ Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that protecting the rights of workers and ensuring fair compensation for their services is the responsibility of the government, and no injustice to workers will be tolerated.
Addressing officials, the Federal Minister directed the relevant authorities to review the registration and other necessary arrangements concerning workers and ensure that they receive fair and timely wages for their services.
Hanif Abbasi said that any unnecessary deduction from workers’ wages or exploitation of their earnings would not be acceptable. “These workers work day and night, and they must receive the full compensation for their hard work,” he said.
The Federal Minister highlighted the significant progress made by Pakistan Railways, saying that the department’s revenue had increased from around Rs88 billion to Rs115 billion. He attributed the improvement to the efforts of the management, employees and workers.
He said workers had played a vital role in the turnaround of Pakistan Railways and deserved to benefit from the institution’s progress. “If the organisation is progressing and its revenues are increasing, the benefits of this progress should also reach the workers who are contributing through their hard work,” he added.
Hanif Abbasi reiterated that the government would take effective measures to address workers’ concerns, protect their rights and ensure timely payment of their wages.
