KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, in his special message on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, said that slavery and the exploitation of human beings have been among the greatest injustices in human history.
Murad Ali Shah said the day reminds us that there can be no compromise on human freedom and dignity. He stressed that ending all forms of slavery, oppression and economic exploitation across the world is an urgent need of the time.
He said Sindh is the land of Sufi saints, where respect for humanity and equality have always been promoted. “We must collectively fight against modern forms of hidden slavery and human trafficking,” he said.
The Sindh CM said the provincial government is working for the complete elimination of forced labour in the province. Protecting the rights of workers and vulnerable segments of society is our foremost constitutional and moral responsibility, he added.
Murad Ali Shah further said that genuine development is possible only by eliminating discrimination based on colour, race and class from society.
